Pool Party And BBQ

Our last pool gathering for the season was a 'doozy'. It's amazing how much joy and laughter can be had in just a few hours! I had made a quick trip to get ice and could not resist getting some of the pool floatees that were on clearance. So, before we headed out to the pool everyone joined in to blow them all up.
Lillian decided to give it a try...
 but, got sidetracked.
I believe that she does remember the way to the pool....
picks up the floatee that she wants, and away we go.
Does not take long for the pool to be filled with color and activity.
Jim deciding which floatee he wants.

She's not too sure about this raft.

Ahhh, that's better, now she can see Mommy :-)
Such a sweet moment.

Calm, tranquil moments do not last long.Especially, when noodles float by that can be grabbed....

Just climb all over Mom to get on the side of the pool!!

Hmmm, I don't think any words are needed here :-)

shaking the plant to see what the bees will do :-)

Now, getting Daddy to take her to the poolside for lessons on..
 how to push off.

After watching a few jumps and splashes from the diving board,

Guess who wants to give it a try!
Parents are trying to catch up with her :-)
Jumping from the side of the pool is just as fun.

Now for the racing dive, she is a quick learner :-)

And by now quite the water baby!!!

 Oh, Oh...
Some major water play/splashes is going on!!
But, Aunt Stephanie is too quick and does not let them get it in the face :-)
 Time to settle down now...

 Clear the pool out...
 and have dinner.
Salads in festive summer bowls

and the all time favorites... Grandma Alwes's potato salad and Jim's BBQ'd brisket
Everyone finds a spot....mostly in the shade.

I sat in the empty chair by Tami.

yum, yum...avocados!
Then, too excited to get back into the pool before a swimsuit could be put back on :-)

Before pool time is over, Stephanie surprises us and conquers her fear of deep water and makes her way to the deep end without a noodle/floatee!!
A little time to acclimatize herself to the deep water, and then, away from the edges, she takes off and swims...
all the way to the other side!
This feat was watched and applauded by all of us :-)
I missed getting a pic of the clapping :-(
Just for good measure, there were then some races :-)

The sun is going down and the fun afternoon is at an end....until next time/summer.
