Germany vacation-Prague 1

The scenery between Nuremberg and Prague was very pleasant with rolling lush green hills and bright yellow fields of  Rapeseed blooming.

Yellow and green, one of my favorite color combinations.
Rapeseed is used in the production of Canola oil and biodiesel.
We also passed 'field after field' of solar panels.

Quite often the 'fields' of solar panels looked like lakes from a distance.
Germany is the world leader in solar power.
By late afternoon we arrived in Prague at our beautiful hotel. It was not very close to the areas we wanted to sightsee in, but it was in a very quiet area and quite relaxing.

I really liked the cobblestone pattern in the driveway.

I also liked the lighting/branch shadows :-)
The rooms had quite a bit of character with angled ceilings and corners, and lots of dark wood for the wardrobe, doors, desk, etc.

Justin enjoying the view and fresh air.

We had a little while to relax before our optional activity of 'Folklore' dinner, so we made use of the hotel's patio.

Justin and Geoffrey trying to decide which beer to try.
Geoffrey is impressed with the price, size, and quality of beers---at about half the price we would spend in the States!
Justin's beer has tree rings :-)
Aaaahh, spring flowers and a glass of wine---life is good!
Quick change of clothes and  a look out our window of the view with the softer dusk lighting....

and off we go to the Folklore dinner. Almost everyone on our tour group opted to join this activity. Our group was from all over...Australia, New Zealand, England, Malaysia, Scotland, Eastern U.S, and us. Quite a fun, interesting, and punctual group.

The wine pouring was a show in itself, as it was served from special glass pipes.
first white wine
then red
After a drink or two, the eccentric wall decor ( of what I think may have been wood carvings) of people with odd expressions and poses...

or cats staring at you, was not quite as creepy feeling.

Seems like they are ready to pounce
During the dinner we were entertained with folklore music and dance from different parts of the Czech Republic.

Colorful attire with hand embroidery and lace
Reminds me of Australia's didgeridoo
lively dances

Czech bagpipe

Hammered dulcimer...I would like to have one :-)
One more wall decor was staring at us as we were leaving.

kind of reminds me of the 'American Gothic"
Ended a wonderful day with a beautiful night-time view of Prague.
